BOOK REVIEW OF- A Girl in Love with a Beggar
Paperback: 156 pages
Publisher: Kalamos Literary Services (2016)
A BRIEF OVERVIEW-
She wants to know on what bases life is measured; is it on the bases of sacrifice you made to make people happy around you or on the bases of fights you fought to get the things that made you happy. And the question is what the limit to this sacrifice or to this fight is? He wants to relinquish this world. He wants to die. He has reached the place where dreams end and desires die. Where questions become unworthy of answers. Where life becomes dear and death becomes new life. They shared life. They shared fate. They become each other’s moksha. They fall in love to complete each other. They fall in love to play their part in this eternal game.
REVIEW OF THE BOOK-
If we have a glance at the cover, the first thing which strikes us is- how is it possible that a girl starts loving a beggar?
But here, beggar is very metaphorical. We get scared of life at times. We decide to die. The opening scene of this novel begins with a tinge of fear and gloominess of life.
“She is just about half a feet away from Death, standing
on the edge of the 21st floor of a building. Air, at this
height, is like the deep sea, gravity is pulling her down.
She has to balance herself backwards, before her final
decision to die.”
The author digs down deep into our thoughts to tell us not to be afraid of life. We have two options in life. To live for the life or to die. The author creates a very sentimental view of both these two situations.
A psychological journey which will keep you questioning till the end. Will she really die? What about Him? And why beggar is referred here?
If you have to sort out the answers for these question, you need to read the book.
THE FANTASTIC PSYCOLOGICAL PLOT.
THE BEGGAR REFERENCE
THE LUCID LANGUAGE.
As the novel is purely psychological, i think the author could have constructed in a more dramatic way which would have included more psychological reference to it.
THE FAVOURITE REFERENCE-
The title itself.
“A GIRL in love with a BEGGAR.”
THE FAVOURITE QUOTE-
Physically she was holding her father’s hand but
Psychologically her father was holding her hand.
